Former Chairman of Commission VII at the House of Representatives (DPR), Sutan Bhatoegana denied receiving money from Jero Wacik, former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and Waryono Karno, Secretary General of the Ministry. Sutan insisted other witnesses had lied about him receiving money.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is facing another pretrial notion, this time filed by the former Mayor of Makassar, Ilham Arief Sirajuddin. Ilham Arief Sirajuddin’ lawyer complained against KPK’s tactic to – again - name Ilham a suspect after a May 12 pre-trial ruling had invalidated the KPK’s last indictment.

Former Deputy Minister of Justice and Human Rights Denny Indrayana asserted that he was not involved in corruption when executing the electronic payment gateway project for electronic passport administration. Denny proposed Professor of Criminal Law from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Eddy OS Hiariej, to testify in his defense. His testimony is expected to clarify that there was no criminal offense in the program.

The Supreme Court (MA) will not automatically follow recommendations proposed by the Judicial Commission (KY) to impose a six-month court-ban sanction on Sarpin Rizaldi, the South Jakarta District Court judge who presided over a pretrial appeal filed by Police General Budi Gunawan. Instead, MA will take time to study KY's recommendations.

The District Attorney of North Maluku confirmed it will investigate two alleged cases of corruption involving the West Halmahera Regent, Namto Hui Roba. The first case involves the regent's official travel budget during the fiscal years 2007-2008 that amounted to Rp 1.8 billion. The second was a 10-percent local budget (APBD) cut from each regional working units (SKPD) during 2007-2011 that is valued at USD 18 billion.
