Former KPK commissioner Busryo Muqoddas said that the judge ruling on the case of former Makassar mayor had exceeded his authority, and crossed over into matters better left to the Jakarta Corruption Court (TIPIKOR). Busyro doubted that KPK investigators cut corners, pointing to the 100 percent conviction rate in more than 460 cases the anti-graft agency has prosecuted since its establishment.

Interim KPK Commissioner Johan Budi stated that the evidence should be examined at trial, and that any discussion of the material basis of a case in pre-trial hearings risked the loss or destruction of additional evidence amid ongoing investigations.

Johan Budi said that the KPK would soon reactivate its investigation into former Makassar mayor Ilham Arief Sirajuddin, despite its recent pre-trial loss earlier this week. It would first deactivate the old investigation, based on the court's order, and launch a new investigation.

SBY advised his successor to focus on corruption prevention efforts, to stay aggressive and act without partiality.

TPPI corruption scandal: SKK Migas boss to be scrutinized

The head of the National Police’s special and economic crimes division, Victor Simanjuntak, announced the investigation into allegations of corruption against petrochemical company PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) would soon turn to the former head of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas).

Police to brief PPATK on TPPI case on Monday

The National Police’s Victor Simanjuntak, announced that his office would brief the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) on its investigation corruption involving petrochemical company PT TPPI. Victor made no mention of including the KPK in the briefing, despite earlier pledges to coordinate with the anti-graft agency.
